This Halloween we witnessed a reenactment of the late Cretaceous period, a dramatic time in the history of our planet. Dinosaurs (like the T-rex seen below) ruled the Earth, but their days were numbered. Clever little furry mammals (like the generic mouse species below) were waiting in the shadows for their chance to flourish and replace dinosaurs as the dominant land animals.
